While there has been significant attention and programming to address the issue of unaccompanied refugee minors (URM), children who enter resettlement accompanied by a sibling, a member of the extended family, or family friend face unique challenges. These children are at greater risk for abuse, neglect, or abandonment. This Spotlight focuses on a population of child refugees that face the additional challenge of resettlement without the support of parents.
