Safety is a key concern for new American communities. Immigrants and refugees hope to live their lives without fear, to integrate into mainstream America, to prosper, and to raise healthy and successful children. But crime, violence, and victimization in new American communities can interfere with these dreams. A Tool for Building Positive Partnerships presents strategies that can help new Americans work with the U.S. justice system to make their communities safer. Designed for those who work with or interact with new American communities, the document will be particular useful for leaders of those communities and for law enforcement officers. The report, published by NCPC’s Outreach to New Americans initiative (ONA), was supported by the Office for Refugee Resettlement, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
