The Domestic Service Providers Toolkit was developed from information provided by resettled refugees and service providers. Those working with children and families may particularly be interested in the lesson plan on “Changing Parent/Child Roles” and “Child Supervision” under the Cultural Adjustment section. It also contains tips and guidelines for providing employment orientation. Topics include the importance of early self-sufficiency, the job search process, the local job market and wages, job interviews, and characteristics of the U.S. workplace, legal documents, salary deductions and benefits.
