Provides information on grants, training, and technical assistance available to community-based organizations to run quality after-school programs. The After School Corporation (TASC) supports more than 300 programs across New York State serving over 55,000 school-age children. TASC’s Web site gives educators and program staff: (1) access to publications on specific after-school programs and promising practices as well as press releases and news about the effectiveness of after-school programs; (2) details of initiatives sponsored by TASC, such as an emergency program that provides jobs to low-income youth; (3) guidance on acquiring program funding and access to a roster of funding sources; (4) information about professional development opportunities, including centralized and on-site training; (5) an array of policy and advocacy resources, including groups and organizations working on behalf of after-school programs, as well as statistics, findings, research, and demographic information about school-age children and their communities; and (6) information about “Project 2010,” a national partnership of 1,000 regional, state, and city organizations, businesses, elected officials, police chiefs, after-school providers, and other leaders with the shared mission of ensuring that all children and youth have access to quality, safe, and enriching after-school programs by the year 2010.
