This article examines the use of entertainment to dramatize locally discordant views on female genital cutting and how it has provided a basis for applied cultural evolution without accentuating intercultural divisions. This approach differs from others that can sometimes imply the need to introduce values and expectations from outside the local culture, which can lead to backlash from the target community.
