Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious international public health issue; adequate, appropriate, and comprehensive prevention and response strategies are lacking in most countries world wide. The situation is especially problematic in refugee and displaced population settings that arise out of conflict, for it is here that women and children comprise the greatest numbers and are the most vulnerable to exploitation, violence, and abuse. This book is a compendium of key lessons learned during the Beth’s five years working with GBV programs in 12 countries;* it is designed to be read and used by staff and volunteers who work to protect displaced populations???from high level policymakers to field-based workers. She hopes the issues, observations, and challenges identified here and the ideas presented will not only add to the collective knowledge on GBV but also motivate humanitarian aid organizations to strengthen their collaborative efforts to prevent and respond to GBV.(Description from Source)
