The Cost of Stemming the Tide: How Immigration Enforcement Practices in Southern Mexico Limit Migrant Children’s Access to International Protection

This report documents some of the reasons why so few children apply for and receive international protection in Mexico after they are apprehended. It also analyzes the humanitarian consequences of the U.S.’ support for migrant interdiction and enforcement efforts in Mexico and Central America.
