This directive aims to facilitate communication between child welfare and immigration systems but barriers still remain. Since the Parental Interest Directive was issued, resources have been developed to provide education on the Directive and offer guidance on strategies for promoting family unification including fact sheets summarizing the Directive and guides for immigrant parents.
