This article discusses the challenges that UAC face in the immigration system and their urgent need for access to counsel in light of the complex web of U.S. immigration laws. It also surveys the growing consensus for reform???such as appointing government-funded counsel for UAC and other eligible children???as well as broader proposals to create a more “child-friendly” immigration system that ensures the rights of the most vulnerable.
