This report aims to understand culture and gender-specific definitions and indicators of child and family well-being, as well as identify protective processes and risk factors. Study findings revealed that Burmese parents and caregivers prioritized values such as politeness, respect for elders, and social functioning in children. They also identified a strong need to intervene at the family-level by strengthening key protective processes. This report may be useful to those working with Burmese families in the U.S., particularly those who work in child welfare, family strengthening, or parenting programs.
