This book tells a very different account of immigrant from the West Indies, especially their children. Research finds that the values that gained these first generation immigrants initial success are undermined by the realities of living in the United States. Discrimination then funnels these populations into low income neighborhoods with high crime rates, poor schools, and inadequate public services.
