When Jameela’s mother dies during the war in Afghanistan, her father gets remarried but sadly, her stepmother doesn’t want her. With the help of a kind family, Jameela makes her way to an orphanage where she later receives medical attention for her cleft lip and is even able to attend school for the first time. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
