This article deals with the definition of trafficking, identification issues and problems, and how to improve identification and protection of trafficking victims. the author also urges that those who work to protect the rights of trafficking victims should also advocate for the rights of all migrants, and that a rights-based approach should be used with all irregular migrants. He argues that if trust is built with all irrregular migrants, that more may identify themselves as trafficked victims, helping advocates to identify more about the population of victims of trafficking.
