This article describes ways in which administrators and other school staff can help Hispanic children and families make a successful transition to school. Background information includes recognizing that families may have moved to seek opportunity; or that wives and children may not want to be here. Issues addressed include lack of English skills, financial and time constraints for parents, feelings of inferiority, the need for staff bilingual education, cultural differences, minimizing the language barrier and famiiarizing families with procedures and orgnization.
