This article describes how growing numbers of young Iraqi female youth in Damascus take to prositution and sex work in order to survive and make ends meet. Before the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, prostitution was a forbidden topic for Syria’s government. The government is finally breaking its silence, but the problem is mounting as more and more Iraqi refugees resort to this measure in order to survive.
