Before the outbreak of war, prostitution was strictly outlawed in Iraq under Sadam Hussein’s regime. Now that war has shattered this country, the article describes how thousands of young Iraqi women and girls have been trafficked into the sex trade for prostitution both within Iraq and Syria .
