This article describes the life of an Iraqi refugee, Laila, who struggles not only to find the resources to provide for her family in Jordan but to find medical treatment for her cancer. Like other well-educated Iraqi refugees in Jordan, Laila and her family were once very successful professionals in Iraq but now struggle to make the most simple ends meet. In Jordan, who teenage sons cannot attend school because of residency requirements, and Laila cannot find medical care to prevent the spread of her cancer.
