Recorded in both English and Maay Maay, these films document the lives of five Somali Bantu youth, who inform the public about their experiences as refugees in Africa and Baltimore, MD. These film series includes “Hunger for Education, but Police on my Feet,” the story of a young Bantu man who comes face-to-face with police brutality on his way to school one morning, and “My Challenge,” a young Bantu woman’s experience with accessing medical care in the face of discrimination and negligent service providers. These two films shed light on the day-to-day life of Bantu youth as they struggle to integrate into their new American communities.
