Muslim Americans: A National Portrait, a study by Gallup and Coexist Foundation, offers a comprehensive snapshot of the Muslim American community and is the first-ever nationally representative study of a randomly selected sample of Muslim Americans. Chapter four focuses specifically on Muslim youth ages 18-29 and includes the following key findings: almost 80% of Muslim youth say religion is an important aspect in their lives; only 40% of Muslim youth are considered to be “thriving”; Muslim youth are the least likely (as compared to other religious groups) to be able to rely on social networks for support when needed; and 51% of Muslim youth rate themselves as poor.
