The material presented here reflects proceedings at a conference on unaccompanied minor refugees, sponsored jointly by Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, the U.S. Catholic Conference, and the Office of Refugee Resettlement of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, that was conducted in 1984 in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Participants included representatives of national voluntary agencies, federal, state, and local governement officials, and program managers and workers from child care provider agencies throughout the country. In all, more than 300 persons took part, making it the largest-attended event of its kind ever conducted.
