Gathers and publishes information for the Action Alliance for Children (AAC) on issues, trends, and policies relating to children and family services in California for policy makers, media, and children’s service providers using a newsletter, website, conferences, and an advocate roundtable. The Children’s Advocate, an award-winning, bi-monthly newsmagazine, is published in English, Spanish, and recently in Chinese. Topics such as child development, violence prevention, education, child welfare, and health are covered in each 32-page issue and can be used for client/community education or as a staff development tool. AAC publishes reports on community building, social/emotional development of young children, developing parent leadership, profiles of effective children’s health programs, and strategies for economic success. An extensive compilation of Internet links to public policy organizations allows research in advocacy and community building, program budgeting, education, and health groups. AAC sponsors a Children’s Advocate Roundtable of over 300 state and regional children’s policy organizations to share information and strategize solutions to improve education, health care, economic security, and the environment for children.
