This report provides readers with an overview of the state of early childhood education for Hispanics in the United States. The authors state that Hispanic children lag well behind their White counterparts on measures of school readiness when they start kindergarten, and subsequently achieve at much lower levels in the primary grades. For this reason, expanding and improving the quality of early childhood education for this population should be among the nation’s highest educational priorities.
