The conference was organized to facilitate discussion among key personnel and institutions, with mandates to improve the United States’ ability to ID and serve child trafficking victims. The report contains points of discussion, areas of consensus, issues in need of further analysis and policy recommendations. Topics include restructuring care of unaccompanied children in federal custody; the Trafficking Victoms Protection Act of 2000; challenges of identification, eligibility of services and the T-visa; child access to services prior to determination of eligibility; prosecution of traffickers and protection of child witnesses; international approach to combating trafficking; policy recommendations.
