Provides information to improve the quality, effectiveness, provision, and availability of therapeutic services delivered to all children and adolescents experiencing traumatic events. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) comprises more than 50 treatment centers across the United States. Its Web site gives educators, mental health and medical professionals, parents and caregivers, and policymakers: (1) access to NCTSN’s 3 component groups, which provide evaluation and treatment services in different settings, including schools as well juvenile justice, child welfare and protective services, and refugee service systems; (2) practical information and resources on the range of trauma and related best practices, as well as information tailored for the media; (3) access to a database of scientific literature on traumatic stress and an archive of NCTSN newsletters; (4) guidance on seeking help for children, including clinically sound treatments; (5) specific information related to terrorism and disasters, including earthquakes, epidemics, hurricanes, fires, floods, and tornadoes; (6) specific information about school safety and readiness, response, and recovery strategies; (7) updates on empirically supported treatments and promising practices; and (8) listings of upcoming events and recent press releases.
