Describes United States government programs that fund faith-based or community initiatives offering services specifically for resettled refugees. The web site identities programs funded through the Department of Health and Human Services or the Office of Refugee Resettlement as well as eligible applicants, funding amounts, and contact information. Current programs focus on: (1) providing services and rehabilitation to torture victims, with a special emphasis on timely and appropriate services to asylum applicants entering the U.S. who have been recent victims of torture; (2) improving resettlement services for refugees, including providing adequate health assessment activities, promoting refugee community and family stability, and increasing service dollars in areas with good resettlement records; (3) helping victims of severe forms of trafficking gain access to such benefits and services as targeted case management, referrals and funded cash, medical assistance, and special mental health services; and (4) promoting early employment of refugees, including certain Amerasian immigrants, Cuban and Haitian entrants, and other asylum-seekers, with an emphasis on innovative approaches to providing integrated services and cash assistance in order to increase refugees’ job prospects and self-sufficiency.
