Provides guidance to parents on helping their children learn in the early years and ensure their readiness for school. This information, presented in Web-based and booklet formats, encourages parents to use everyday interactions to teach their children the basic skills they will need to cooperate, get along with others, and be enthusiastic learners. Children learn best through their everyday experiences with the people they love and trust, and when the learning is fun. Parents have access to information about key developmental skill areas, from birth to 12 months, 12 to 24 months, and 24 to 36 months; information about the important roles of parents and other caregivers and the limited role of television; easily searchable tips on how to integrate developmental activities into daily life and make every day experiences part of the learning process; links to other relevant sites providing information about brain development and cognition; resources on particular topics, including developmental problems, special needs, mental health, and professional training; and Spanish-language resources. Parents are reminded that children develop at different paces, and that the information and tips can be adapted to meet a child’s individual needs.
