Uses data from the decennial census to show that since 1965 immigrants coming to the United States via the family-based system experience upward economic mobility.  The report determines that the earnings of immigrants in general, and those of family-based immigrants in particular, have increased dramatically during their first decade in the country. This is a strong indicator of the key role families play in the economic success of immigrants and, therefore, of the economic potential of this component of our immigration system.
