Provides links to maps that were produced by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in-house unit. The maps highlight the exact positions of refugee camps, buildings, etc., and track their movements as they relocate. This information can be critical in areas of conflict to prevent humanitarian resettlement centers from becoming targets. Based on satellite images and a global positioning system, the mapped information shows boundaries and roads as well as the environmental impact of the refugees’ presence on surrounding areas. Maps are available for the areas of the Middle East, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe. For example, there are more than 300 maps for Africa broken down by country and/or region.
