This handbook covers general information about refugees such as how a refugee comes to the U.S., the refugee experience, resettlement, refugee serving organizations and caseworker responsibilities. It also includes information specific to mentors such as guidelines for mentoring, immigration and legal issues, characteristics of a good relationship, cross-cultural basics for volunteers, and communicating across cultures.
