The Defense Base Act provides insurance on a workman’s compensation basis to anyone who was wounded overseas while working for an American government contractor. U.S. citizens, residents, and third country nationals, or those hired from another country to work for the U.S. government, are eligible for coverage if certain criteria are met. Anyone in your caseload who worked for an American contractor and was wounded during that work, or is the surviving family member of someone, who was killed while in service to an American contractor, should research this opportunity.
