This research brief investigates differences in the poverty rates between children in immigrant and native-born families. The report is the second in a series focused on immigrant youth in the United States, and this piece draws its research from the 2000 Census. This study finds that the poverty level among children of immigrant families may be higher than the report by the U.S. Census, and it concludes by making suggestions for effective policies and programs that might prevent childhood poverty.
