This manual helps refugee students find ways in the United States to build new dreams, which can sometimes contradict old dreams they imagined in their home countries before resettlement. Sessions in the manual encourage refugee youth to further explore their new personal identity, investigate how decisions can shape a person’s experiences like one’s appearance and even nationality, record family and cultural history, imagine future dreams, and discover personal, social and community assets. This resource attempts to assist refugee youth and their families discover bridges between the past (their memories) and the future (their new dreams). Though written for Washington state, this resource includes useful information for those working with refugee youth throughout the U.S.
