This chapter discusses how caregivers can help unaccompanied asylum-seeking children create new, stable homes in their host countries, especially within the United Kingdom (UK). In focusing first and foremost on re-building relationships of trust, caregivers must pay special attention to protecting and promoting refugee youth’s safety, sense of belonging and success in host countries. This chapter helps guardians in industrialized countries like the UK better locate not only the vulnerabilities but also the strengths of these unaccompanied asylum children. It ultimately proposes how caregivers can assist refugee youth integrate the old with the new in shaping a new, safe and successful life in their host country.
