This article suggests that positive health outcomes among recently arrived immigrants are related to mutual care and family devotion. The trauma of familial separation due to parental detention and deportation, however, has long-term negative impacts on children's health and well-being. The authors advocate for immigration policies that make child well-being a top priority.
